Sheldon P's Story
Life
A producer, director and production manager for concert, theatre and film, Sheldon P. Lane rounded out 28 years in the entertainment industry as the Co-Chairman of Seattle Repertory TheatreâÂÂs Diversity Initiative. He spent 7 years prior as Theatre Program Coordinator and General Manager of Theatrical Facilities at Kennedy-King College, in Chicago IL, where he directed the winner of New York CityâÂÂs esteemed Village Gate Award â JoAnn BlackmanâÂÂs Hue of Resolution and A Matter of Perception in 1999 and produced Arnell Harrisâ futuristic drama 19 in 2001 as well as Tyron Patton & Kerensa PetersenâÂÂs Weep No More My Lady in 2002.
His body of work includes early Nike Air Jordan commercials, music videos for Ice T, Michael Jackson, Special Ed, Jane Child, to name a few. His feature work includes I was a Mail Order Bride, Dr. Detroit, and Back to School, as well as cinematography for Sweet Perfection and The Demarco Story. e - released in 1998, comedian Daniel GardnerâÂÂs one-man-show I Found the Key to Life and Somebody Changed the Lock, Diane Harrison Jamesâ Someone You Should Know, and The Chicago Actorsâ Ensemble Production of Real Junebugs Fly. Sheldon has recently produced the psychological thriller 5150, the documentary feature Robert Smalls: A PatriotâÂÂs Journey and served as a contributing producer on AmericaâÂÂs Other Founding Fathers. He has consulted for Amblin Entertainment, Walt Disney Pictures, Walt Disney World Resorts, Disney Production Services east & west, and the Mississippi Film Commission. He has been instrumental in the identification of African American crew personnel and performers for dozens of producers & production companies. He has also served as a coordinating producer for Black Entertainment Television.
It has been his personal mission to diversify the entertainment workforce wherever he can effect change. To that end, he credits his children Wesley and Hope for his grounding.
